That’ll be where the police got the burglary gone wrong from then.

I was not a fan of her as a politician by any means, but this is terrible. Is there any clue as to why he did it yet?

I was never fond of her politically, but it’s just fucking evil to do that to someone.

Don’t care if you liked her or not, no one deserves to go out like that. Just awful. Hope the monster who did this gets a full life sentence and parole is never even considered.

Premeditated. Political motivation. Robbing the victim after they’re dead. Extreme violence.
Those are some pretty severe aggravating factors.

All I can think of is how terrifying and horrible her last moments must have been. She was just eating her lunch, in what should have been the safety of her own home.
It’s just dreadful, and really upsetting.

Absolutely horrific.
Even worse that it was caught on camera but at least it makes it easier to prosecute him. If he had been 20 minutes later, she would have been live on Channel 5.

I’m not sure how many times this needs repeating, but repeating it again as the inevitable ‘left wing violence is treated differently’, ‘why did they say it wasn’t political’ comments are already coming in.
There needs to be actual evidence before charging someone with terrorism or to say it’s politically driven, and at no point have the police said ‘it’s definitely not these things’. They’re actively looking at it and have been the whole time as clearly it could be.
It’s unhelpful to try and use this to score points, or use it as a comparison to other MP murders when these were done publicly with witnesses, clear intentions made vocally at the scene etc.
They may also have more details on motive than they’re willing to share publicly at this time. It’s not always obvious unfortunately.

Extremely brutal! A very much undeserved and terrifying end to her life.

As others have said, like her or not, it’s a horrendous and evil way to end a life. You can only hope that she wasn’t conscious beyond the initial blow.

Poor woman. No matter what your thoughts are on her, she did not deserve this ending to her life.

The outside of her home was shown on a TV show a few months ago. Ridiculously unsafe and should never have been allowed, no matter the level of fame someone has they should never have their living address broadcast on TV!!

BBC also have an article claiming the coroner said ‘cause of death’ not yet established. Wouldn’t it be the 21 hits on the head with a hammer? Seems a little odd to me but I don’t understand how these processes work.

What a fucking awful thing.
I cannot get my head around wanting to do something like that to someone, let alone doing it.
Driving across the country to beat an old woman to death with a hammer? Just vile. Vile.

He looks so normal. I know that’s a stupid thing to say, murderers almost always look “normal”, it’s always the ones you don’t expect and so on, but it’s so striking this time because that photo the news keep using really does look like any regular nerdy guy I might find at my local board gaming club. Just a regular guy aged anywhere between 25 and 45 who loves Star Trek and has strong opinions about Catan and still says “doggos”. Like, I *know* that guy, I’ve met dozens of that guy. And he murdered an elderly woman with a hammer while she was just quietly eating lunch. Such a headfuck.

An awful way to die. I think she was an easy target if politically motivated. She was living alone and vulnerable.
It’s also a dangerous time to be political. If you are to the Left of Labour or to the Right of the Tories you’re really on confirmed risky ground, especially when people in the mainstream parties are being killed.
It shows that politics isn’t a game. Be aware of the risks.

Reminds me of [The attack on Paul Pelosi (US house speaker’s wife)](https://en.wikipedia.org/Attack_on_Paul_Pelosi)
Poor Ann widdicombe, what a sorry end to an old lady’s life. Truly awful.
This doesn’t seem left wing, right wing or any wing
This is going to filed under unexplained
That’s the scary part
