When the year is good, prices go up. When the year is bad, prices go up. I think the weather has little to do with price increases.
There’s always some excuse that comes out of nowhere.
I can’t wait for the “temporary” 50% price hike that never gets lowered.
My question would be if this grain is used for animal agriculture or direct to humans. Because we could do with a lot less animal agriculture, hell, it might even help fight against the climate crisis.

Note that this isn’t just a problem for Europeans. Europe is rich and we’ll just buy our food elsewhere and pay elevated prices.
Other poorer countries however now have to compete with Europe for the same food supplies and if you cannot pay European prices you might get fucked over by this.
