> Rosselkhoznadzor will restrict the import of dairy products from Armenia from July 27. The agency reported that from July 14 to 21, specialists from the Federal Service for Plant Sanitation (Rosselkhoznadzor) conducted inspections at Armenian dairy processing plants previously opened with veterinary service guarantees and supplying their products to Russia.

> “The inspection confirmed similar violations that were recorded during the inspections in 2023-2024. These violations relate to traceability systems, the preparation of veterinary accompanying documents for raw materials and finished products, veterinary and sanitary inspection of incoming raw materials, the functioning of risk management systems, and the implementation of production control programs. The current inspection revealed the use of milk from infected animals in the production of products supplied to Russia,” the statement said.

> The Russian department also claims that cases of using raw materials from third countries to produce high-fat products for the Russian market have been confirmed, “despite previous assurances from the RA Veterinary Service regarding the use of local raw materials or raw materials obtained from EAEU enterprises.”

> “To date, Armenia has not created a system to confirm the origin and safety of raw materials for milk or other dairy products used in production. This especially applies to milk processing by those who cannot guarantee the safety of the supplied products. Moreover, attention should be paid to laboratory facilities. Taking into account the violations identified, Rosselkhoznadzor has taken measures to prevent the import of particularly dangerous infections into Russia and the sale of unsafe dairy products on the domestic market. This once again confirms that Armenia is unable to control agricultural producers, partly due to the consequences of the 2019 government reform,” Rosselkhoznadzor stated.
