Non sono mai stata a un concerto e so che probabilmente suonerò come una Karen o qualcosa del genere, ma qualcuno ha notato l’eccessiva quantità di telefoni ai concerti e agli eventi? Ho preso questo screenshot dalla storia di un amico, credo fosse a Bruno Mars o qualcosa del genere.
Ogni persona su 2 è più preoccupata di registrare un video di una canzone e pubblicarlo sul proprio Snapchat che di ascoltare effettivamente la canzone e apprezzare di poterla ascoltare dal vivo. Mi viene l’idea di voler “catturare il momento”, ma abbiamo davvero bisogno che più di 100 persone registrino lo stesso video?
Lo stesso accade con i toni del lupo, la storia di tutti ha le stesse canzoni nello stesso ordine e tutto il resto. Nessuno sembra più godersi il concerto per quello che è, tutti sono solo videografi nel momento in cui entrano.

I’ve been to hundreds of concerts and played a few myself. I love music. I love being in the moment.
But I have close friends who have scattered to the winds, in many countries around the world. If a song reminds me of someone, I’ll take a 15 second clip to send it along to them. I don’t think that means I’m enjoying the music less and I don’t think it takes away from the experience.
You’re rigtht about one thing: you soukd like a Karen. I go to concerts all the time. As long as other people don’t block my view or are loud and distracting, indint mind what they do with their time there. Plus, for a lot of people filming is a way to preserve precious memories. Let them.

Barely any in landscape mode. That’s the real issue here.
Was at a gig recently in the national concert hall, they announced before it started for people not to record, take pictures and switch off their phones.
The audience actually cheered after this announcement.
Do these people even look at what they’ve recorded in the days , weeks, months to come ?
And then people watch all the stories, hey kinda like you!

Allow me to add the qualification that I have been to many concerts.

I’m acclimatised to it in a way now but when I see people recording, I feel like it’s a involuntary reaction now. I’ve seen teenagers in museums just hold their phone at head hight and just walk past exhibits not even looking at what they are recording. Video will likely have shit sound anyway and be looked at once. Kinda tragic but I do see some of the younger crowd really getting back into the swing of things and going to gigs for the enjoyment.

For many, not all, it’s a way of saying “I’m here, you’re not.”
Videos no one will watch. Not even themselves. I see loads of mates doing it on stories and its an instant skip. Take maybe one video or picture (hooray you where there) then put it away and enjoy your fucking life in person
The world cup was the same, every time a player took a throw in, a corner or a penalty and everyone in the crowd had their phones out.
Why doesn’t everyone enjoy things the same way I do?
Bob Dylan gigs have a ‘no phones’ policy and you’re provided with a locked phone pouch for the duration. It works well and you’re not distracted by phone screens and flashes.
If you’ve never been to a concert, then surely your opinion is irrelevant, given that you have no skin in the game.
This is why I like to take two 20-30 seconds clips per concert, just to send to friends if they like a special bit and to share the experience with them. But more than that and we’re all constantly recording, it’s too much
You’ve never been to a gig so I’d imagine its hard to notice.
From experience, it seems to correlate to how popular, faddish and genuinely not actually that good the music is.
Techno and man/ men with guitar, generic Iradio pop. Those gigs it’s very common, constant and can be a genuine issue because everyone is looking up at their phone and being a roadblock.
Tech house or Groove techno DJs, half the crowd are recording the whole thing poorly while shouting yeoooo.
Was at a gig last week 70k people, so only time I seen the phones out was to record iconic moments, and once where everyone used their torch as a lighter, it was Class.
Generally can tell beforehand what itll be like.
Yes I admit I’ve went fangirl a couple of times and recorded a whole gig. For my own memories, not social media.

I last did thay in 2008 at a concert because I had a good Nokia with decent fort the time camera and put it on YouTube. Almost no one was doing it and I couldn’t see these songs live. Fast forward to now and everyone has their phone out but you can get knock out performances live filmed professionally for most artists on YouTube. Just enjoy the moment.
At a recent concert I went to, I had someone in front of me hold their phone up directly in my line of sight.
It was only a min or two and not the whole concert but it was long enough to annoy me.
I hate it. I take one photo for memories and that’s it, phone away until I leave. I went to see an orchestra play and someone recorded the whole show. Do they even watch it back?

I remember coldplay had a concert where they told the audience no phones please. Of course eijits recorded it. Any concert ive been to the only concern i have with my phone is where is it. I dont whip it out because a recording of the performance is boring to watch
Sports events and just about every event of any significance anywhere is now the same. People are more worried about their instagram stories than the experience itself
