Prides are becoming more relevant than ever with the rise of extremism. Gay rights are human rights and we shouldn’t rest before that’s written in the constitution.
I’m Canadian. After finishing post-secondary school 26 years ago I sold all my shit and planned a 2 month European odyssey solo. My first stop, Amsterdam, and thinking I had everything well planned, I arrive at Central Station on a Saturday afternoon, walk out and there are tens of thousands of people jam packed everywhere. Turns out I didn’t realize it was Pride Day. After an hour of walking in circles with my big backpack I finally found a quiet street and hopped in a cab and found my hostel. I met some amazing people instantly and we had an absolute blast partying with Pride. I remember seeing Kylie Minogue play that night. Thanks to Amsterdam and to Europe for the best trip of my life, to this day.
This post reminded me of that trip.
