      I’ve had mice with replaceable batteries for years, I don’t know who would replace the whole device when the issue is just a dead battery.

      Normally when my mice run out of energy, i just give them water and a little snack. maybe a little nap too if they’re really beat 😉

      To be honest, my Logitech mouse never got damaged because of batteries, just got old because of contact with my hands and buttons stop working properly.

      I’ve had Logitech mice for years that take AA, don’t really get the big deal tbh

      I’m totally out of the loop. I am European who lives in the US and I still have two Logitech mice that have replaceable AA batteries. They are probably ~10 years old. When did that change?

      The fact that they actually bother to make two different variants of it tells you everything you need to know about how much money planned obsolescence makes them.

      I have been using logitech mouses for 7 years – had to replace the contact switches 3 times. Never had any issues with the battery.

      Are they also going to do something about the keyboards that supposedly don’t work anymore…? But if you connect them to Linux, there is no problem.

      It was the first thing I checked when I wanted to buy a wireless mouse. I wanted one that I can just throw a fresh AA anytime, and logitech disappointed.

      tldr for EU: Companies are now offering you repairable products, but only because they have to. In order to make you dislike the change, they’re making the mice heavier and worse, as well as increasing the price. Keep the pressure on, it’s working.

      tldr for US: Companies could easily offer you repairable products, and are showing you right now that they will only ever do so when forced to by the government. A totally unregulated market *is failing you* and nations that regulate it get results instantly.

      I dont care about the battery in the logitech mice when the scroll wheel is always the first thing to break. And they always break within a year after the warranty ends. Ive had 4 Logitech mice in 13 years and wheel breaking was the reason to replace them each time.

      Latest one I replaced I actually fully dissasembled and found that the rod that connects the wheel to the sensor is only a millimeter thick so obviously its gonna wear down and break first. BS design but I just like how well the G series mice fit my hand so am just gonna keep buying new ones.

      Battery in my old G502 lightspeed still holds charge like new (charging it once a month) while rubber is melting, plastic body is discoloured and micro usb port works only at certain angles (good thing you have wireless charging) While it’s nice, the battery is the last problem with products like this

      For the laptop I’ve got M705, it has replaceable batteries (2xAA) but I don’t replace them. They’ve been going for some 4 years now, daily use.

      I can’t explain how it works, but it is a pretty efficient mouse.

      all my logitech mouse in my 40 years of life have always been personally replaceable with AA batteries.

      Exact reason why I’ll never touch a Steelseries product. Their support is terrible. I was gifted a 300 eur headset by my father that passed away (5 months after he gave it to me) and it broke 8 months in. I didn’t have the receipt cause it was a gift, they refused to help and also didn’t tell me that their headset was about to hit end of life so I haven’t had a headset for almost 4 years and just an expensive paper weight. Absolute trash company and product.

      edit: end of life means no more batteries being sold so even though I kept trying to use it, it was impossible to get batteries.

      My Logitech M575 trackball mouse uses one AA battery. And that battery tends to last for about 18 months. I’m not sure why Logitech is going to go through the effort of creating a non-replaceable battery version of this mouse for every market except the EU, now.

      I understand that not everyone can but I replace/upgrade even the switches on my mice. It’s not difficult and I’m not spending 50$ or more on a new mouse when I can fix it for a few dollars.

      Edit: forgot to mention you can do that with batteries as well. Most have part numbers or stats so you can find replacements.

      I don’t think it matters….a logitech mouse will stop working properly long before the non-replaceable batteries are close to dead.

      My Mxantwhere 2S Is alewady battery replaceable. You peel of the feet, unscrew four screws and then you can open the mouse. The Li-Ion battery is attached via a connector.

      It will start with EU until they realize it’s stupid to have two production lines and make it global

      I hope those companies won’t be a jerk by replacing the space for the little weights (Logitech often has those) with an accessible battery. For people like me with a handicap a weighted down mouse makes the difference between being able to hold the mouse still and not being able to click things.

      Maybe EU should mandate a global standardisation rule.

      Stuff sold inside EU = stuff sold outside EU, as a market access requirement and to prevent this type of BS.
