>Armenian police detained 88 protesters as they attempted to block streets in Yerevan. Protesters are angry over PM Nikol Pashinyan’s decision to hand over Armenian territory that it has controlled since the 1990s in exchange for peace. The decision has also angered opposition parties in parliament who have said that they will attempt to bring impeachment charges against Pashinyan. While the Armenian government claims it made the decision to cede Armenian territory in the interest of peace, the Lemkin Institute recognizes the slippery slope and the dangers these developments might pose to Armenian sovereignty, particularly in light of Azerbaijan’s seizure of Artsakh in September 2023 and its subsequent forced displacement of the entire population of 100,000 to 120,000 Armenians. The Lemkin Institute supports the right of Armenian people to peacefully protest and to advocate for different policies in the face of genocide. We appeal to the Armenian government, as well as all other governments around the world, to exercise restraint and respect people’s’ fundamental human right to express their dissent.

I had some thoughts about Lemkin institute after seeing that last statement they made, and then the promotion of the statement by Dashnaks and ANCA. But since Lemkin institute is supposed to be a pure and honest organization I didn’t want to start conspiracies that there is a certain type of influence and gave them the benefit of the doubt.
But now after this statement, I will, because there is an obvious agenda

I agree we need to protect the rights of protestors but we also should define who the protestors are…this is a pro-Putin movement to install a theocratic authoritarian government. This is pure fear-mongering in hopes the people will topple the government, and then the Hayatollah will hand the keys back to Putin and resume collecting management fees.

I’m upvoting this post for the sake of better exposure of the hypocrisy going on here.
This:
> While the Armenian government claims it made the decision to **cede Armenian territory** in the interest of peace […]
is coming straight from from the ARF’s mouth, is a lie and blatant propaganda. We are ceding *Armenian controlled territories*, big difference. Lemkin Institute, while generally a useless institution nobody listens to, is either somehow influenced by the ARF/ANCA or are simply not as diligent in their research as they are supposed to be.
