CIAO! ho 25 anni, sono metà italiano e metà greco-cipriota. ho fatto testare i miei geni dalla mia parte cipriota che è tornata dal Medio Oriente. tuttavia, da bambino mi è sempre stato detto che sembro in parte asiatico. da adulto, non penso che sia così evidente adesso, ho gli occhi a mandorla, la pelle ESTREMAMENTE chiara e i capelli scuri. Ho visto un post in questo forum in cui si discuteva di come, poiché Cipro è situata nell’Asia occidentale, è comune che i ciprioti abbiano tratti asiatici/occhi a mandorla. ci sono altre informazioni a riguardo, anche testimonianze personali? tutto è apprezzato perché lo trovo davvero affascinante: pensavo davvero di essere unico e non pensavo che potesse avere qualcosa a che fare con le mie radici cipriote. It is not common at all for cypriots to have east asian/oriental features (e.g. almond eyes). There are Cypriots with a darker complexion that is similar to middle eastern people.
Cyprus is nowhere near to being a homogenous population. Some people with almond eyes surely exist but it’s not a common trait. It, then, won’t be necessarily about the Mid East but and highly possibly another direct or indirect admixture.
There are some middle eastern ethnicities that have more almond shaped eyes than others. Probably you ancestors originated from there. For instance, Persians (now day Iran) did their time in Cyprus. On of their key features are almond shaped eyes.

Almond shaped eyes aren’t particular to any culture. Do you have hooded eyelids? That could definitely make people say you “look Asian.” Dark hair and pale skin is an Asian beauty standard, so that could have contributed to people’s comments too. I wouldn’t say Cypriots have Asian features at all generally, but like the other comment said, we’re a big melting pot of cultures over the centuries.
