What do you guys think? Should the recognition of the Armenian genocide, Ararat, and Artsakh be removed from the Armenian constitution?
To me it’s an unequivocal no!

is it the constitution that mentions all this or the declaration of independence? i think this is just static it doesnt really have much meaning.
i also dont think founding documents are sacred documents which should remain the same way forever (see how well its working for the USA).
but also im not a citizen so it wouldnt be my choice anyway

i really, really, *really* hope that our government isn’t naive enough to think these guys actually want peace and are just using any excuse at the moment to avoid any peace agreements.

if this happens, as a descendant of genocide survivors who still carries intergenerational trauma, i’ll stop seeing armenia as my motherland.

Maybe stupid question, but does the Armenian constitution mention anything about Artsakh, i.e. that it’s part of Armenia, etc.? I haven’t looked into it, so that’s why I ask

Of course not.
Does the government of Armenia have the power to change any of these things without a referendum?

It’s obviously a move intended to humiliate and demoralize. It’s like when a bully forces you to apologize to them. They’ll keep pushing for more and more vicious things and grow bolder and crueler if they think we’re weak. Their government and hypernationalists are irredeemable. Force is the only thing this kind of “person” understands. Zero principles or morals or understanding of genuine cultural or scientific or economic accomplishment. Failures of existence.

Removing Artsakh , well ok, but what does Ararat and genocide have to do with peace with Az?
Likewise, make them remove the moon from the flag.

I don’t know how any Armenian, Hayastanci or diasporan, can read this news and not want the entire Azerbaijani government along with their entire bloodline murdered.
They don’t want peace. Everything they have said to the contrary is a lie. They have done nothing since 2020 which suggests any sincerity behind their words. Everything they say and do, and how Armenia responds, has to be viewed through the lens of their desire to eradicate or completely subjugate Armenia. They will continue to look for every opportunity to apply pressure, to weaken and divide Armenia and Armenians, and I’m growing rather tired of the Pashinyan administration’s attempts (along with the attempts of *every* other stakeholder, both regional and global) to portray this sadistic game they’re playing as anything else.
The mentality permeates not only the Azerbaijani government but the majority of Azerbaijani society. That will continue to be the case for at least the generation of Azeri children growing up now, and probably their kids too.
The fact this is even being debated amongst Armenians is shocking. Armenia’s enemies have no say over any of Armenia’s internal affairs, let alone ones (like the symbolism of Ararat) which have absolutely *nothing* to do with it.

They’re trying to stir up drama and keep us divided “you changed your constitution? No it was because of us!” Type of thing.
