I can say not to choose Gasperich
>So, I am a bit confused. Are there more accurate noise maps or routes online? Is there any chance they’ll move the flight paths? I came across this in my research but can’t make sense of it.
I’m sure that some place exact departure/approach routes exist but I’m not sure if these are public.
The noise map is relatively accurate tbh. There are of course exceptions. In bad weather, planes departing in SW direction, sometimes makes a sharp right turn after take-off to avoid bad weather and pass over neighbourhoods that they wouldn’t normally fly over.
Most parts of Bonnevoie are pretty bad when it comes to airplane noise but you may have passed through there on days where they landing in NE direction. Over Bonnevoie, the engines would be idling or not running at full speed. If they depart in SW direction, you won’t miss a 747 departing.
Other factors also pay a roll. On a weekday in the city, the background noise (traffic, construction works, etc.) you experience will drown out airplane noise. On weekends or in quieter areas, airplane noise will be much more noticeable. Wind and geography also plays a roll.
That noise map looks quite accurate, given that it depicts the extended centreline of Lux airport. That said, standard departure and arrival routes will have airplanes fly pretty much all over the country at 4000 feet AMSL, look at the ELLX section of the AIP Belgium for details. As I am typing this, six planes flew right over my head here in Dudelange, but at 4000 feet they don’t really bother me. I wouldn’t want to live in Sandweiler, Hamm, Gare or Neiheisgen though.
We have an ATCO here in the sub who may contribute more (and if you’re reading this: stop routing traffic via ROUSY or LX062, it’s not cool dude! ^(/s))
The flight map is mostly accurate. If you don’t notice them in Bonnevoie, it means that you are used to the noise. Go there again, pay attention to the airplanes, and you will see that it’s very noticeable. Bonnevoie is however large and if you are near the technical school vs. near the train station, the intensity is different
As others have said, the flight map is pretty accurate. But it also depends on weather. I live in Mertert and some days the planes are much noticeable. Or if it’s the AWAC. My husband’s office is across from the airport and it’s not as loud as my friend’s home in Bonnevoie.
