    1. Oh no, my friend. This is a mistake, a terrible mistake. They’ve gone too far, this is madness!

Something you learn quickly when living in the Gentish sphere of influence…
Gent does not give a crap about what happens outside of it, only in it, and then you get results like these.
Where they are a completely unique case in Flanders.

I really like Ghent. I’ve lived in Brussels for nothing short of two decades now but I know little of Belgium because I visited most of it when I was really young. I decided to amend this by visiting various places last summer, and I ended up visiting only Ghent. But god, did I love it. It was on a Sunday and it was very sunny. I ended up walking around the town with my friend, enjoying the cityscape, drinking a beer by the water. I even accidentally ended up in a neighborhood party, it was very lovely.

What I loved most was how quiet it was. I distinctly remember sitting outside, talking to my friend with my usual voice, and a tram passed. As it passed, I looked at a nearby departing bicycle and I could hear the bike’s tingling sound. It was so peaceful. I could never speak normally in Brussels, outside, on a sunny day. I can barely when I’m in a park.
