      >European banks and financial institutions have collectively invested tens of billions in companies that sell arms to Israel. That’s what NGOs 11.11.11 and Fairfin denounce in a new report. **BNP Paribas, of which the Belgian government is a shareholder, is at the very top of the list**. And so the NGOs’ call is clear: the government must address this.

      >The Belgian state is a major shareholder in the group. Moreover, **Finance Minister Vincent Van Peteghem (CD&V) currently chairs the Board of Governors of the European Investment Bank. 11.11.11 and FairFin therefore claim that the Belgian state has sufficient levers to call both bodies to order.**

Companies in question: Boeing, General Dynamics, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, RTX and Rolls-Royce.

These are mainly not really weapons producers, but aerospace companies. Those sales were also sanctioned/supported by the US government so perhaps they should bark up that tree instead. I don’t think a company like Boeing is going to break a sweat when suddenly BNP wouldn’t lend to them anymore, that’s rather simply going to hurt the latter (and thus its shareholders like the Belgian state).
