Crazy right how joint business ventures aren’t immediately insanely successful.

Here I was thinking it was a shame Armavia folded after a decade under Roboserzh, but turns out Pashinyan’s govt couldn’t get an airline to last even a couple years of operation.

Flyone and Wizzair have the biggest shares of the market, there’s no need for an airline paid for by taxpayers

Why do you launch an airline before you have been removed from the EU blacklist? ARNA was doomed as it only flew to UAE, Iran and Russia. The flights to Russia are way too competitive for a local airline. At least if they had A320NEOs they could fly to China, India etc which could actually make sense as no airline flys there and it’s easy to fill up an A320, but the standard A320 that ARNA has can’t fly those routes as it doesn’t have the range (at least at a profitable capacity)

I believe it is important for us to have a strong aviation sector both cargo and commercial, as we are landlocked and our only “unlimited” Access to the world is through the air, and having a cargo planes is very important for weapons imports look at Azerbaijan, relying on Soviet IL-76s isn’t sustainable.

But there is a right and a wrong way of doing this, Armavia should be reinstated, with a new leadership and investors, Armavia was iconic and actually flew to a diverse list of destinations where there wasn’t as many foreign competitors. London, Amsterdam, Stockholm etc to Yerevan routes are guaranteed to generate revenue, miniralniye vodi not so much especially when 9 low-cost Russian airlines already fly that route 20 times a week
