Well, when things get expensive and food aid is reduced, Africa will realize who the real aggressor is.
and Wagner stealing their resources.
Great article. Not often you hear an African leader speak ill of Russia. And as he says, Africa being an importer of food is hurting as a consequence of the war.
“Countries that did not sign the communique include India, Armenia, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Indonesia, Bahrain, Colombia, South Africa, Thailand, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates.”
Are these countries close with Russia? Was particularly interested in South Africa and Mexico.
Uhh Africa has definitely suffered as a result of this war but to label themselves the greatest victim is a bit tone deaf
Calling genocide “bullying”?
Many of these African leaders will be aware of just how bad things would be under russian rule.
The Western colonial powers of old were bad enough, but white russian Imperialism will make those seem like the good old days.
If Russia had managed to completely take over Ukraine, Putin would control 25% of the global wheat export supply.
By doing so he could weaponise food and keep the Global South in line.
Same as he weaponised oil to assert dominance over Europe and Central Asia.
And africans know this, some have chosen to side with the rashists out of necessity to hedge their bets and getting cheap wheat in the meantime, same as India does with the cheap gas.
