Nothing. Russia still can leverage their air power to push under heavy casulties. Ukraine withdrew from bad Positions into some of the best on the whole front
That the Ukrainians are smart and know it’s far easier to sit on one side of a canal and shoot anything trying to cross it than to try and hold a bridge head across said canal.
What it means. After months of grinding and highly attritional assaults the very edge of the town is no longer worth defending. Instead the Ukrainians will pull back to better positions and the meat grinding of Russians will continue.
it means, that the western support is not enough. The west needs to step up the support a lot, if they want this war finish on Ukraine’s terms.
