Apparently, some German windows don’t have the typical “reset position” button next to the handle like shown in many YouTube videos. I couldn’t’ find a solution to this anywhere and spent hours having fun with the window in various positions.
If the top corner opposite of the handle does not close all the way in, the mechanism shown in the photo might be the reason why. Open the window in both positions so that this mechanism extends all the way out. I know it’s gross, but touch through this whole top part of the window, looking for a “button” that you can press down into the window. Once found, press the button down (do not let go) and move the handle to the tilt position (handle looking up). Tada! You can now close the window

Never seen a reset button on those windows. Things like that happen time to time especially with older windows where mechanisms are worn out. Usually pushing them close while gently applying force to the handle or rotating it in one or the other direction helps. At first it takes time, but then you’ll be able to close that window from any state 🙂
