Today I had the opportunity to meet with Kirill Budanov in order to present him with a painting that I dedicated to the legendary operation with helicopters that broke through to the surrounded “Azovstal”. It is an honor for me, as for a Ukrainian artist, that my painting will hang in the office of the head of the GUR, because this operation has become legendary not only in the history of this department, but also in the entire modern history of Ukraine.

Ukrainian artist Olena Liberty creates incredible works dedicated to Mariupol and the heroes of “Azovstal”

The artist from Kyiv met Mariupol seven years ago, when she was invited to create one of the now destroyed murals. Subsequently, she began to dedicate full-fledged exhibitions to the city of Maria.

For the first time, one of them (“City of Fire and Steel”) was presented in the cultural and tourist center “Vezh”. The artist also worked on the project “100 Faces of Mariupol”, dedicated to outstanding Mariupol residents in history. This was reported by the page “Mariupol — a tourist city” on Facebook.

Recently, a thematic exhibition of Olena’s works about Mariupol and its defenders was opened in Lithuania as part of the festival. The paintings are put up for auction, and the proceeds from the sale will go to the rehabilitation of defenders returned from captivity. At the opening, theater and film actress Olesya Zhurakivska read the texts of Ukrainian journalist and Mariupol woman Nadiya Sukhorukova, which she wrote under shelling in the first month of the war.

In addition to paintings, Olena brought to the exhibition unique postcards with landscapes of Mariupol, which were exhibited in the famous Mariupol Tower until February 24. One picture depicts a train station, another a bridge, and the third the Azovstal plant. All this was destroyed by the Russians today.

also, it would be cool if Kyrylo Budanov made a tour of his office some time. i heard he’s a huge collector of various models, minis, etc. i’d like to see his collection.
