Russia has lost. But Ukraine still needs to win. Retaining all land or NATO membership would be wins IMO. We the west can and should enable both of this for Ukraine.
The author says war over at latest by the next summer at latest. I would stretch that to next autumn to be on the safe side.

I hope the author is right in predicting an end to the war next year. I think russia can probably take the pain longer than that, but i agree that the result is a foregone conclusion, even without the US in play. Russia hasn’t been able to *win* since the first week of the invasion, but it’s also lost the ability to force a draw. The question now is whether any nukes get used before the end- but i don’t think even that would change the outcome for putin.
I’ll feel more confident about this when it happens. until then Ukraine’s still got the hordes coming at them

Not really. They are still fighting and people are dying. That’s like saying someone died 5 years ago and doesn’t know it.
They might be waning. But they haven’t “lost” yet.
