I’ll change the title for you.

Russia needs to leave Ukraine alone.

…and cost 1.8 million soldiers. A small, but important detail.

    3. I was trying figure out how long it would Russia to get the 4 Oblasts Putin wants based on current Russian losses verses ground gained. While war is not linear, 5 years and many more Russian casualties seems about right at the current attritional grind. As Ukrainian makes the war more asymmetrical, there will more chances for a power shift in Russia like the Prygoshin attempt over those 5 years.

But they only have enough equipment for another year or two of war at current equipment loss rates.

I think the plan from Ukraine is to fight a defensive war where they can inflict 10+:1 losses. They’ve already chewed through all the good Russian equipment and are now chewing through the passable stuff

It’s difficult to finance wars with a nearly full tilt war economy for 2 years without outside loans and assistance, let alone 7 or 8.

At the turn of last century Britain was the largest creditor nation and extremely rich. But after 2 years of fighting, in 1916 she was on the brink of sueing for peace.

Then a big loan came in.

There are many big economic issues facing Russia.

Lucky Ukraine then, Russia does not have 5 years of economic capability left for this war.
