Those mines are low-power, designed to maim, not to kill. This amount of distance from the ground will prevent any serious injury.

…now that they have those, it’d be awesome if their combat engineering units could also strap their feet into those IDF-style “mat” attachments that distribute a soldier’s ground weight evenly round a larger area, usually the size of most SOVBLOC or Italian-type plastic AP mines

They can be air dropped and are shapped somewhat like the wings of a butterfly making their fall softer and in the middle there is the fuze. Just 5kg pressure can activate it
