Di recente mi sono imbattuto in alcune statistiche che evidenziano una tendenza preoccupante in Spagna. Secondo un rapporto del 2020 di Statista sui tassi di divorzio in Europa, la Spagna ha un tasso di divorzio di 85,5 divorzi ogni 100 matrimoni. Ciò significa che quasi 9 matrimoni su 10 in Spagna finiscono con il divorzio.
Questi numeri sono impressionanti e suggeriscono che in Spagna sta accadendo qualcosa di significativo. L’alto tasso di divorzi potrebbe essere il riflesso di cambiamenti sociali più profondi, forse influenzati dalla pandemia o da altri fattori economici e culturali. Le statistiche indicano che il divorzio è diventato un esito comune per i matrimoni in Spagna, sollevando interrogativi sullo stato delle relazioni e del matrimonio nel paese.

Firstly, that’s not true. It means that in 2020 there were 85.5 divorces per 100 marriages, not that 85.5% of marriages end in divorce.
Secondly, the marriage rate in Spain (and everywhere else) in 2020 fell to the ground for obvious reasons. [According to INE](https://www.ine.es/consul/serie.do?d=true&s=MNP75641722), the number of marriages had doubled by 2022 since that all-time low while [the number of divorces ](https://www.ine.es/dyngs/Prensa/ENSD2023.htm)has nearly held steady.
And thirdly, if the rate of divorces per 100 marriages ever picks back up it’ll probably be because of another freak event like the pandemic, or because marriage slowly goes out of fashion as an institution. But probably not because of a sudden collapse of relationships.
