      > When it comes to her ban on cricket, the mayor claims there is no space or money to build a new pitch and says cricket balls pose a danger.

How? How do cricket balls represent more of a danger than, say, getting a football pettled at you? It’s just common sense right? You play in reasonable areas and keep your eyes out for others, and others keep their eyes out for what is going on around them. Cricket is a great game.

Some of the indian guys play cricket here. Several cricket fields are there in the city. No one says anything. Some folks are curious and they watch, some try to join in but otherwise no one cares. Why act like a buzzkill and rob people of a simple act of fun?

      1) I don’t like cricket
      2) I don’t particularly like or dislike people from south east Asia

But I would never ban a non dangerous sport with no reasons like this

This is where anti-immigrant sentiment leads. They bait you with things like Islamism but they’re just as fundamentalist as those they claim to hate. Playing sport is a fantastic community outlet. I guarantee if it was a bunch of us English out there, and we played cricket, that wouldn’t be banned.

We’ve been had a lot of Indian immigrants here lately. I said a few times: I hope they make us a good national team in cricket at least. Portugal will be the next power to fear in cricket!

Not irony per se but the oldest football club in Italy (Genoa CFC) and one of the most successful (AC Milan) were both founded as cricket and football athletic clubs.

I was perplexed. Then I read it happened in Monfalcone (Friuli-Venezia Giulia). Makes sense.

To think on the other side of Northern Italy, in Pioltello (Lombardy), a highschool will be closing down for a day during the last day of Ramadan this year too, because 43% of its students are foreigners.

Different approaches to diversity, I guess. One is better than the other. And it’s not Monfalcone’s.

Edit: paragraphs, and I don’t get why I got downvoted. You can’t actually think what Monfalcone’s administration is doing is right.

How the fuck is it the government’s job to decide which ball games people can play

      > There are Bangladeshi restaurants and halal shops, and a network of cycle paths mostly used by the South Asian community.

What does this mean? Do Italians famously not use cycle lanes? Are South Asians big fans of cycle infrastructure??

    11. As italian: ma che è sta stronzata? Never saw a bullshit like this.
