One of the few 1# spots that I am proud for my country, we are a shithole, but we know it.

Just the history of the PM’s family tell the whole story. The level of corruption in Greek politics would seem like science fiction for anyone norther than Italy.

This doesn’t show the level of corruption but actually shows the level of self criticism in these countries.

There’s no way the right percentage for Romania is less than 90%.

Italy didn’t make the top ten?

We would be first, but Greece bribed us to take first place.

Finland: Corruption isn’t widespread, it’s simply limited to our current government and in plain sight.

I do not know a single greek who has not bribed anyone save for those who are in a position that usually receives bribes instead.

Honestly, this just proves Europeans have no idea what “widespread corruption” means. There are very few countries in Europe with that level of corruption, and i know because i come from one of them- Serbia. The levels in this country would absolutely boggle the minds of other Balkaners, let alone western Europeans. Sure there are some of our neighbours who are also in the race for a title, but none come close (if we exclude Russia).
I sometimes read about political affairs that caused the resignations of goverments in other European countries and they’re absolutely laughable in comparison and wouldn’t even be on a radar here.

Even when it’s not widespread, the localized corruption around politicians can cause quite enough of a damage.

Complaining about government corruption is a fundamentally human thing as old as time.
