So Russia seems to be counterattacking from the west, which was supposed to be a surrounded pocket, bound by the river in the north. That’s why those bridges were blown up by Ukraine.
What happened?
It was expected and I hope that the Ukraine forces on the ground don’t get caught out
Sucks honestly. I’ve been hearing that a good amount of Ukrainian casualties occured, though most of their mechanized losses are easily replaceable light armored vehicles. A part of me still thinks the Kursk operation wasn’t a good idea.
Edit: There still may be some good parts though. For one thing, Russia is using more elite units here in their counterattack, likely siphoned from other fronts, and some Russians reported they’re pulling UAV operators into the frontline on the Pokrovsk front.

At the price we’re making them pay for that one “counteroffensive” Russian hill… I wish we could sell them another hill.
The whole Kursk thing seems like a big extremely wasteful Boon doggle to me with no positive outcome
Did the Kursk incursion help relieve the front in the Donbass and in Kherson, and help liberate some territory there? Let’s not forget that the primary goal is the liberation of the whole sovereign territory of Ukraine. Secondary goal is to reduce Russian shelling and invasions into Ukrainian territory.
Ah yes. A month after Russia was invaded by the state they tried to conquer and annex, they still haven’t managed to get them out. 🤣

It isn’t a surprise, and I don’t think Ukraine was ever going to hold the area. Invading the enemy is a win none the less, and with every Russian soldier killed inside Russia, there is one less bastard to cause pain in Ukraine.
Also, Ukraine is now specialist in defensive battles, and I hope Russia will pay just as much for these square kilometers, as they had to at Bakhmut and Andiivka. If even they have to pay just a fraction of the blood spilled for this land as in those places, it would still be a victory, since it is Russian rather than Ukrainian land.
I just hope that that if Ukraine has to withdraw, it will be with minimal losses.
