    1. No shit. Having been to the US a few times now, it’s amazing just how awful it is to be a pedestrian in cities like LA or SF.

America doesn’t care about walkability. It’s a country size commercial zone. Gotta do business…

    3. Moppermonster on

Well duh – the USA calls walkable liveable cities “15 minute cities” and thinks they are scary.

Crazy what happens when General Motors doesn’t sabotage railways and controls infrastructure policy via lobbying

The grass is green, a study shows.

Really, there are some things that are so obvious that the money / work hours spent on their studies would be better off donated to charity.

Beats? Wouldnt it count as kicking someone as they are down and cant get up?

I mean, Americans have to train themselves to walk “long” distances before they visit anywhere in Europe because most aren’t used to walking any further than a car parked closely by. The automotive industry lobbyists made sure their infrastructure, culture and laws alienate pedestrians. In many places anyone see walking will actually have the police question them because walking anywhere is seen as suspicious.

Grass is usually green and the sky tends to be blue unless you live in the UK or, as of recent days, the Czech Republic, study shows

I decided to have a quick walk to McDonald’s in LA using their deserted pavements, and a police car actually pulled alongside and greeted me. Once they heard my English accent they just drove off. That’s how odd it is to see someone walking in certain areas.

“US beats europe in military strength, study shows”
just as much of a shocking revelation.

This is the least shocking news I’ve heard in awhile.

But who funds this kind of “cutting edge” research and journalism?

You don’t say! Who would have thought?! I’m flabbergasted by this result!! Such a surprise!! OMG!!! My world has been turned upside down!!!!

Was on holiday in the states for 4 weeks , visited 4 different states. The place is a fucking disaster. Good place to make money but other than that Europe is the best for me. I’m a Brit and despite speaking English the place seemed totally alien to me compared to Germany where I live – even though my German is crap

Why is Europe in this one sided competition with America? We don’t care.

We may pat ourselves on the back but their are still a lot of cities that are truest shocking without a car. In the UK for instance just look at Birmingham or Milton Keynes.
