      They can put up paid advertisements on those types of boards whenever they like. It’s only the temporary election posters that get stuck up everywhere around election time that are regulated.

      It is not an election poster.
      Nowhere does he ask for your vote.
      It is a personal advertisement on a dedicated space for advertising.

      They normally just put posters up of themselves advertising a free public meeting on some bullshit topic.

      That’s completely normal, I used to walk past a massive Mary Lou McDonald billboard for years when I lived in her constituency. It was one of those massive billboards that you’d see on the side of a building. I’d imagine it’s likely still there.

      I’ve already had canvassers call to the door in the last week, I just asked of the election was called for yet, and closed the door, one was definitely FF as I still have the little flyer, I can’t remember who the other was… they are definitely gearing up.

      A lot of the time TDs and councillors have posters around advertising meetings, etc. it’s only the big posters you see on lampposts that can only be put out 1 month prior

      I wish election posters were Illegal, ugly lumps of plastic on every street post, fine them all for littering.

      It’s not an election poster, those are the ones on poles with those fucking cable ties. Anyone, can buy advertising space for any reason at any time, it’s why we should ban the fuck out of election posters entirely, let them use the advertising space that’s available just like everyone else would have to.

      They can only put up temporary election posters **after** the election date is fixed and a maximum of 30 days before. They have to be down again 7 days after the election.

      If you see any posters flying up, report to your local council.

      Advertising on bus shelters doesn’t fall withing this remit.
