This is obviously a personal take with little thought put into it but he was likely placed due to his personal views on the matter. It shows how seriously the party is taking this subject.
The approach has only failed and will only fail. It has ruined lives and squandered states resources for decades. It has been lining the pockets of criminals and making criminals of those who would otherwise never be near the criminal justice system.
There is a model in place in the Germany that we should be aligning with but we are still having the same conversations we were having in the 80s.

Destroy the supply lines? Irelands lax security apparatus are an invitation for cartels that have a lot more financial resources than the Irish government. Their also more willing to develop ways of circumnavigating these FG dinosaurs before they’ve even enacted their next hairbrained attempt at prohibition.
I don’t know how they can be so behind the idea of increased tax revenues but be against legalised marijuana that would pump a lot of money into the exchequer. It wouldn’t be a silver bullet but perhaps a step in the right direction for society as a whole.
Legalise it, regulate it, and tax it.
