“Four serious incidents associated with smoking in the five-year period led to severe harm or death of patients” – wtf?!

Customer was feeling unwell in work a few months back, an ambulance was called, paramedic jeep landed first, and got him on oxygen.

Few mins later I heard heard the paramedic screaming at him, the lad had the mask pulled to the side, had a cig in his mouth and was about to light it.

That would have been some craic!

It’s hard to believe that there has to be warnings against people smoking indoors (or outdoors) near oxygen tanks. Never mind the fact that people on oxygen tanks shouldn’t be smoking anyway.

    4. Just stand outside A&E in Cork, there’s a speaker playing a messaging saying “This is a no smoking area” every 2 minutes or so, with loads of people smoking next to it.

While I wouldn’t recommend smoking around sources of oxygen, in itself it isn’t explosive or combustible but instead it enables fuel to burn. If someone were smoking beside a leaking oxygen tank, what would be more likely is you’d see self-immolation before you’d see an explosion…so perhaps it should be a burning man warning instead 😛

It’s striking how it’s outside the front of a hospital building that I’m most likely to see smokers
