Oh fuck, it’s going to be a bad recession when a humble wagamama can’t keep it’s doors open.

I really liked wagamama when I tried it first, years ago. Over time, I feel like it’s gone down a bit in terms of quality and doesn’t excite me as much, but it was still a reliable restaurant to go to when at blanchardtown area. Bit sad to see it go.
Not surprised, it’s almost impossible to make money in the restaurant business now.
The place was quite expensive at the end of the day so im not shocked

Bad sign man, the quality has gone to shit too though, I used to eat in a Wagas twice a week at one stage, since COVID it’s always been poor Compared to before.
I guess Brexit doesn’t help.
I’d expect Nandos to be next in sizing down, just too expensive for what you get
I really like Wagamama in London, there it is a reliable and inexpensive option, in Dublin the quality was not as good and the prices were higher than e.g. The Ramen Bar which offers better quality food
The bubble has burst for restaurants in Dublin. They kept putting their prices up and the market just can’t take it anymore.
Could be pricy, but I loved its Katsu Curry, which is hard enough to get at the best of times, so I’m fairly gutted.
Sounds like it was more a kerfuffle between the franchise and Waga HQ, rather than some downturn in prospects?
I got a €30 delivery from them recently. Very mediocre for the price. They used to do quality rice dishes but it has gone far downhill and way over priced.
Wagamama Blanch was a surprisingly good option for a family feed, they could do something plain af for the fussy childer and they had Asahi on draught. And they always had tables if you turned up without a booking but at the same time seemed fairly busy
The amount of business closures in Dublin is honestly shocking. It’s very very strange that it’s not being talked about more
Nooooo, it is way too expensive but honestly its super good, so still a nice treat from time to time.
It was kind of a novalty at the start, I used to go to it all the time
Now you get similar quality and maybe better from local food restaurants so I haven’t gone in years.

Aw shame, this was my treat back in my Dublin days.
I prefer the local Japanese places way more to the franchises, Wagamama and Eatokyo are underwhelming imo

Oh no . . . anyway.
Had ramen there in blanch. Thought I’d stay safe and go for the most run of the mill ramens. Was expensive and honestly towed the line of inedible. I’d usually inhale ramen and I’d expect some elements to not be amazing and that’s fairly expected. But every part of this was awful. Even the eggs weren’t good. Happy to see it leaving.

This chain was ran by Press Up in Ireland which has been taken over by lenders. Expect most of the group to be broken up and sold off.
They used to have an item on the menu called firecracker squid.
Man that stuff was good. Chili and lime all over some nice soft calamari.
Then they got rid of it. So I stopped being interested.
Guess I have outlasted them haha.
Did they not say all but one press up group was going to close?
