      I’ve always said, I’d love to see this broken down by region rather than just all of Ireland lumped together. Coming from Drogheda, I feel that figure would be significantly higher than in other parts of the country, for instance.

      In fairness, I would do the same considering how much a room in a shared house costs.

      You ain’t seen nothing yet, will be 30 in a couple of years. The only reason it’s as low as 26 is because so many of the 20-25 year olds have come to Australia.

      Not so long ago people lived at the family home all their lives. Now people have been made to feel, you MUST leave and get a huge lifelong mortgage.

      Ireland really is a pig in lipstick, a backwater mentality society cosplaying as a wealthy, advanced one. Look at the Scandinavian countries in comparison, places we love to compare ourselves with on paper but in reality, with things like this and the consumer index we’re still more alike the poorer southern European countries

      What about the people being forced to move back into their parents house in their 20s & 30s after previously having left?

      I have so much sympathy for young adults in Ireland. I graduated college at the height of the recession and our job prospects were completely fucked. But at least we could afford a room in a house to share with our dole while we figured our shit out.
