Ciao, ho guidato in Islanda 3-4 volte, sono stato qui senza alcun problema, ora sono qui per un soggiorno più lungo e sono rimasto davvero sorpreso dalla quantità di islandesi che non sanno come usare una rotatoria. Venendo da una piccola città della Danimarca con il maggior numero di rotonde del paese, ne ho esperienza. Ho avuto la patente per 7 anni, nessun incidente causato da me. Stavo tornando a casa dall’eruzione vulcanica, quando una Range Rover grigia quasi mi si è schiantata addosso. Ero furioso pensando che fosse un guidatore imbecille e idiota e fortunatamente non gli ho dato un pugno, per aver messo a rischio la mia vita. Poi sono tornato a casa e ho cercato su YouTube e sono rimasto sconcertato. Da quando cazzo ha diritto la corsia interna? Perdona il mio francese. Sono l’imbecille e fortunato a non aver ricevuto un pugno sui denti. Sinceramente dispiaciuto per l’autista, chiunque tu sia. Sinceramente mi hai evitato di pagare l’assicurazione, perché sarebbe stata colpa mia. Se qualcuno conosce l’autista o se vede questo, sono un grande idiota. Uno enorme. Scusa. Se a qualcuno interessa, ecco come usiamo le rotatorie in Danimarca e come guidavo nel traffico. Sto entrando nella corsia di destra per bloccare le auto che arrivano dalla mia destra.

Wouldn’t it also make a bit more sense to not stop inside of a roundabout let’s be honest. What are your opinion on this?
Also read that foreigners makes up to a third of all accidents and 2/3 of around the golden circle.
You’re not the first, Iceland is pretty much alone in giving inner lane priority. Now at least you know and can honk at people being bad drivers for the right reasons!
Why wouldnt the inner lane have the right?
The right of way, well I tend to never trust anyone in roundabouts so yeh not first to do this. What really really grinds my gears is the tourists who change lanes inside the roundabout. The frequency in which I’ve had to quickly hit the brakes to protect myself from a car in the outer lane randomly deciding to switch over to the inner lane is too damn high. Probably never used my horn as much as I have since starting a new job in August and driving amidst more tourists.
You are also not allowed to change lanes inside a roundabout in Iceland, which also applies while exiting the roundabout.
If you want to enter a roundabout on the outer lane, and there is a car on the inner lane, indicating left (i.e. not exiting, and not crossing over the outer lane), you can enter the roundabout right away in the certainty that your lane will be free. Unless the other driver is a tourist, of course.
