At a fundamental level, it’s very hard to disagree.

The concept of silence being consent isn’t just a cliché.

In partial defense of ordinary Iranians though, they (especially the women) openly tried to take on their government a couple years ago while being shot at even though their beef wasn’t about military support for Russia. It’s still a lot more than what ordinary Russians have shown after Putin signed off on the armed forces’ and FSB’s plans to escalate the invasion as of February 2022.

Shaheds are also only a small part of the arsenal that the Russians have happily used to try to exterminate Ukrainians. Russian-made gear (e.g. Su-35s, T-90s, Kh-101s, Iskanders, Lancet drones, repurposed S-300s) still dominates that arsenal. Last I checked, ordinary working-class Russians are the ones doing the shifts at the factories to churn out these weapons that sustain the aggression.

The unmissable truth is that far too few ordinary Russians actually give a ѕhіt that their compatriots have been murdering, maiming, castrating, beheading, rаріng, torturing, orphaning, kidnapping, bankrupting or displacing Ukrainians.

Russians’ “opposition” or “antiwar” sentiment has revealed itself overall to be a sick joke with utterly ineffective and short-lived peaceful protests or “draft-dodging” by the privileged (and typically undrafted) bougies of Moscow and St. Petersburg. The learned helplessness cloaked in smart-аѕѕеd cynicism provides the necessary license for so many of them to close their eyes to the invasion and also to *any* example of non-Russian civilians willing to fight for real from the inside for common decency or just a chance at a better domestic future. Worse is that their self-generated complexes relative to the “brotherly” Ukrainians ultimately pervert their understanding of the latter’s civic agency shown in the Orange Revolution and Maidan.

Meaningful Russian opposition to the ongoing invasion has so far turned up only in a *rounding error’s* worth of the 140 million+ with the tiny Freedom of Russia Legion, similarly small Siberia Battalion, some saboteurs, and some volunteers secretly helping abducted / trapped Ukrainians escape.
