I really can’t stand how early life happens here. Companies start at 8 with early workers even at 7 with an unpaid break.

In my entire adult life I think I’ve never opted to eat in the normal window.ย

How tf you eating dinner before 5pm? There’s no way you’re not hungry between that time and your bed time

So you are telling me the Norway is eating dinner right after lunch? ๐Ÿ’€

    4. charlieyeswecan on

Yes the Spanish really do eat that late, but it makes for lively evenings

What a load of crap, mostly breakfast is eaten at that time.

    6. I dont think there is a single country for which this map is right

The Swedish one seems a little excessive, I think it should be more like the German one in my personal experience.

    8. Ekhm… I bet for many countries it isn’t dinner, but supper. Also: please use 24-hour clock. That’s Europe.

I’d shave half an hour off the Portuguese dinner time. It’s more like 8:30-9:30 at best.

I realize people are used to certain meal times, but I would hate for my evening to have to be interrupted by having dinner right in the middle of it. I like having all evening free to do what I want.

Normalise it for UTC + 1 and then we can see some actually interesting results.

    12. Never heard of anyone in Ireland having dinner at 6.30 unless they were late home. 6pm would more accurate.

As an Asian born and raised in the Netherlands, I feel more like a South European when it comes to diner time. Although I can understand people eating dinner early, people are getting hungry right after work.

Wonder when all countries will advance to the 24 hours clock system…
      Same with the metric system..

TIL: the warmer the country, the later the dinner

girl, Polish people eat SUPPER at that time, dinner is in the early afternoon

Portugal’s wrong. Should start from 8pm. Having dinner at 10pm is also considered pretty late.

being a waiter in barcellona seemed excruciating. people sitting at the table waaay past midnight. fuck that

For Spain you had to adjust the time. Our hours have an extra hour thanks to Uncle Paco trying to be friend with certain austrian with a funny and squared mustache so in our case we’re on the 20.30-21.30 lines.

Belgian here I eat when I get back home from work between 5 and 6:30 in the evening.

This really needs the AM/PM on it. Ain’t nobody eating dinner in the morning

    23. Dinner Time in the North East of England (and a lot of Northern England for that matter is 12:00-1:00

    24. I got a reservation for dinner last week at 23:30 (spain) ๐Ÿคฃ

    25. That explains why my German friend is so annoying when we’re in Portugal at 19h and he starts to complain that he is hungry and we should make a reservation in the restaurant instead of just showing up in the place at 22h like true iberians

    26. Dapper_Dan1 on

And now you need to compare the time zone to the actual noon. And then calculate how late dinner actually is. Spain having the same time zone as Poland could explain why the Spanish seemingly eat such a late dinner.

In France restaurants open at 7pm for dinner. But itโ€™s true that at home we eat around 8ish.ย
