An ally to fight Hungarians.
I personally really like Romanians, those that I met were hardworking, straightforward people. I hope to visit the delta of Danube one day.
As ive been to Romania (Suceava Region). I can tell its a nice country with a very good people.
(Although you need to learn to build gas pipes better)

I worked with many. Absolute majority we great, positive, polite, outgoing people. Honestly with them I felt much nore positivd and “like at home” than in my own country.
Friends, even if there are stupid people insulting Romania, I have respect for them, they are kind from my experience
me and my wife visited SIBIU 2y ago and had a blast, absolutely wonderful city and people were really nice. I was surprised by quality of your couisine and insane amount of single origin coffee roasteries
It’s a country I have high on my list of countries I want to visit as soon as I have time.
I’ve sadly haven’t met anyone from Romania but from a few things I know from history I do see Romanians a little positively. Like, Little entente and Romania not joining in the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968. And I think you have a really beautiful language.
I’ve been to Romania many times, mostly for business trips at local airports (and the largest one in Bucharest as well). That’s why my kids eat mamaliga.
I see many many similarities to our country. Rich history, beautiful nature and unfulfilled human potential.
And I really miss a Romanian and Balkan style restaurant/fast food in Bratislava, I think serving some mici is a great opportunity to stand out from the flooding of cheap kebab.
Bears, scenery, dracula, székely palyinka tyű baszdmeg, visited only two times breafly, would love to hike there sometimes
Had a few romanian friends when I was living in Budapest. All super cool people. Wasnt the greatest fan of the tuica they brought tho haha!
I also remember I picked up this hitchhiker once. Dude was romanian, but spoke perfect slovak, apparently there is a slovak speaking minority in RO which surprised me. Never been to the country myself, but I always imagine a beautiful landscapes. Also, the huge anticorruption wave you had in the country + the prosecutor Laura Kovesi (not sure if i typed it right) comes to my mind.
In general, Romania is used in a conversation if you want to give an example of an underdeveloped country or a county where nothing works and people drive donkeys and stuff. It’s not a pov that i personally agree with but I would say based on that, that Slovaks generally think Romania is somehow “worse off” than Slovakia. Not that it is true.
Then again, there are many intelligent Slovaks with firsthand experience that would disagree 🙂
Tbh, Romanians are often subject of mocking. Romania is often desctribed as developing country. And I’ve heard nonsense like you have basket for used toilet paper.
Romania is in my travel plans, I’ve never been there. It’s Carpathian country, I guess there is lot to see and many hidden gems.
I heard that the nature in Romania is really charming. One day, I would like to visit your part of the Carpathians and your beautiful castles.
I think Romanians are great and nice people. I appreciate the help of your soldiers during WW1, thanks to whose sacrifice the Slovaks had a better chance of forming a republic with the Czechs. You will always be our ally in our common struggle against the nationalist Hungarians. Our peoples shared a long history under the rule of the Hungarian Kingdom, and the Wallachian migration had a cultural impact on the northern regions of Slovakia.

Never been to Romania but I met a few Romanians on Erasmus and we had such a good time together! 😄 on the other hand, while working in Netherlands, we had one Romanian roommate who was lazy af and totally untidy but was also kind to us.
I was few times in Bukurest and I liked it a lot. It was very similar to Bratislava with s slight 90s feeling in it (there were a lot of wires above heads, lots of cats in old town, parking was wild and old houses in city centre were not renovated yet). But I felt safe, people were nice, everything was cheaper and I had a great time. Food was OK, Romanians colleagues warned me not to eat original romanian cuisine.
I’ve visited thrice; once Bucharest, once a roundtrip of Translyvlania, once I was travelling from Suceava to Iaşi and then Constanţa through Vaslui. Some interesting sights there.
It’s clear Romania was once a very poor country, but it’s getting a lot better recently; I think ATM we are on par. In terms of economic growth you might even have a better outlook. Then, unlike us, you are a country big enough to be taken rather seriously, militarily and geopolitically and it seems our intersts are quite similar, hence I think of you as a stronger partner, to some extend. Culturally, I admire that Romanian people, even the poor rural ones, are more outgoing, hospitable, enterprising and brighter or wittier, particularly compared to Bulgaria; somehow I’ve always been able to get by with English and body language much easier in Your country. You have orthodox Christian traditions, which I find curiously exotic, and some world-class tourist hotspots like the Peleş castle and the city of Iaşi, that are truly worth visiting. On the other hand, there are couple of small things I look down to a little, even in comparision with Slovakia: electic wires everywhere above head in towns and cities, railway and road infrastructure in dire condition, more gypsies/beggars, no centralized timetable/lack of digitalization. But surely You will catch up, eventually.
Ah yes, by the way, Your language makes me feel guilty. When I see a romance language with so many Slavic loanwords, I feel like a barbarian that has sacked Rome.

Im Slovak and part of my family is romanian. I also think a lot of slovaks from the older generations like them because Romania was the first country to exit W4 when the occupation of Czechoslovakia was happening in 1968.
Could you please label those attached pics? I’ve only visited Bucharest, which I loved (good weather, good friends and colleagues, good vibes), but I might explore more soon!

I’ve planned this wonderful Romania roadtrip (from west to east and back) when I was in high school. It’s been about 15 years, but I still hope I get to do it someday with my family. It’s one of the places definitely on my bucket list!
My girlfriend is from Romania 🥰. My general opinion is that it’s not too different from Slovakia. The beautiful places are stunning but the smaller towns look the same as ours. If I have you two villages to compare you would hardly know the difference.
I have visited your capital city i have few questions
1. What the fuck
2. How do you have internet cables and electricity so freely hanging out? Dont people just cut it for fun?
3. Prices were a little shocking as they were very close to ours.
4. Why do you get popeyes and we dont 🙁

In Slovakia, there are some people like me, who either like other countries or at least have nothing against them (if they don’t act like assholes and don’t bully their neighbours). The generic majority, however, believes Romania is backward, full of gypsies who steal everything they can, etc… But that generic majority thinks every other country is a shithole, only Slovakia is great. So it’s nothing personal
