As a French friend to Israel, I believe it is the necessary way to go. Netanyahu went too far into destroying civilian lives, or at least it seems so, and therefore we shall see what the ICC rules.

Portugal also. It really shouldn’t be necessary for states that are signatories of an international treaty to vow to respect said treaty, but that’s the world we have.

But note: no bans on weapon sales, no embargos, no israel banks out of SWIFT, no seizing of israel assets and so on. So, no real intention to do anything to stop the gazan genicide, and no real consequences for israel.

Europe is a sad, useless joke.

That ICC arrest warrant seems like a joke.
PM of ANY country has a DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY hence whatever whoever says seems to be waaay not in line with the international law

Saying and doing is something completely different, the US house and senate have already warned that any country to arrest either Israeli, will result in an invasion and extraction with force.

I don’t see it ever happening, even if Netanyahu traveled here.

Icc lost it’s credibility with this. They are used in hybrid war against the west. Together with some of ultra left crouwd. And even their conviction of putin was milder in tone and nature

The current right-wing Italian government is not very keen to comply:

      * “The decision is wrong, but if Netanyahu and Gallant came to Italy *we should* arrest them, because we respect international law” (Crosetto, defense)
      * “*We’ll examine* the motivations *we’ll evaluate them* with our allies” (Tajani, foreign affairs)
      * “If Netanyahu comes to Italy *he’d be welcome*” (Salvini, transportation)
      * “*We will discuss* this at the G7” (Meloni, prime minister)

The irony of subscribing to an international court and then questioning their judgement and authority.

Unfortunately the international community cannot be strong if there are strong divisions. Just like Russia opposes Putin’s arrest, US and Israel oppose Netanyahu’s arrest. This decreases any credibility of international institutions like the ICC.
