I would think it’s pretty self-evident that’s the case.
Civil Courts in Ireland don’t award that much money, McGregor has a long history of settling cases out of court, and the process of her pursuing this required _years_ of hassle (including masked strangers stabbing her boyfriend).
If she just wanted money, settling out of court was a lot easier. And even if she wasn’t interested in money and just wanted justice, most people in that situation would probably still have settled given the difficulty pursuing this entails.
You only get this outcome if someone is not only motivated by reasons other than money, but also very determined.
If she only wanted money she would have settled. McGregor may not have been prosecuted in this case but it goes a long way towards showing other women who are victims of his/other high profile celebrities that they can’t buy their way out of trouble.
Now thats a serious change of title

If McGregor appeals the case and he loses, can the court revise the award upward? It pisses me off that the car that collected him from court is worth more than the civil penalty for rape.
