That sounds less like a feint and more like a classic Ukrainian “double bind,” of the kind that they have used in Kharkiv, Kherson, Kursk, and elsewhere. Threaten two positions at once when Russia can’t adequately defend both. Now Russia is faced with the choice of which they will lose.
