*Judge Boyle said that she would not consider the probation act and he deserved a conviction.

But considering he was “looking down the barrel” at losing his job, she said that she would reduce his two €2,000 fines to €1,000 each.

But the legal costs he owed would remain the same at €5,000.

She said she would remove the suspended sentence.

Regarding his disqualification for keeping dogs, she said that in her view, he had come a long way from May 2023.

She said that she would not impose a blanket ban on keeping animals.

She permitted him to keep the nine dogs he had, each of which she named in court.

But once five of them had died, he could only keep four dogs for six years*

We just don’t take this issue seriously. This is a bizarre decision by the judge.

Nobody in power gives a shit about animal welfare no government and no court.

Are they fucking kidding with this!

So what if he lost his job. Fuck him! Protecting a government employee is corruption.

What about the animals he subjected to abject misery and continues to do so by being allowed to have any animal in his care.

He was a vet. They are meant to be the custodians of our animal welfare standards. If a doctor had done this to a human, it would be a very different matter.

The Irish legal system and its representatives are bent as a four bob note.

Is there even a hypocratic oath for vets? Seems like the one thing expected of them is to “do no harm”. Jsesus this is disgusting.

Gowls!!!! Man should be fined, given a sentence & not allowed near animals ever again.

      Stupid fuckin system.

That judge needs looking into after that decision. I hope the vet gets ball rot and can’t recover.

A blanket ban on keeping animals…. Except for the nine dogs he is allowed to keep. And when five of those have died, he’s only allowed have four..for another 6 years.

What kind of nonsense am I reading here?

Well jesus, you’d hope he would lose it

Why does he even want the dogs at this point? He clearly doesn’t walk them, or work with them in that state, you wouldn’t even be able to pet them.

He should have been referred to psychology and social workers, as well as having all the dogs taken immediately.

100 lashes with a metal dog lead! Scum bag and judge is no better. State of Ireland

Fuck that judge. What a fucking disgraceful decision. Imagine letting someone who’s responsible for animal cruelty keep animals but also possibly not lose their job as a vet? I wouldn’t go near him with a barge pole.

His father died? When my Mother died, I didn’t leave her dogs in a mountain of crusty crap. He should be ashamed of himself.

So he got a reduced sentence on the basis that he *might* lose his job. Anyone care to bet that he doesn’t?

    14. StPatricksMate on

That Animal Welfare Inspector is incredible! One of the toughest jobs out there emotionally and mentally.

Then to hear that he might not lose his job, gets to keep his animals, no blanket ban etc after his appeal.

No wonder people lose faith in the system. Slap in the face after all of the work she put in to bring this case in front of a judge.

He is an absolute disgrace to the profession and should not be allowed near or keep any animal. If a doctor was found to keep a relative in the same condition they would never practice again or be allowed to be in a position of guardianship. I have worked in the veterinary world and it is disgusting what people get away with!
