Has to be a leak somewhere, i’d contact the owner and see if you can find an issue

I can’t help with addresses or names, but I see these kind of mistakes sometimes in my newspaper where the newspaper Het Belang Van Limburg solves issues for people who can’t get help via their provider. Sometimes it’s the same issue: too much water billed. If it’s really impossible that I’m sure it’ll be fixed but first thing is to contact your water company.
You can also google Ombudsman en waterfactuur. They also say you should first contact your watercompany. THey are like the org that you contact when you can’t get to a serious solution.

First and foremost you have to protest the invoice, reply by registered post.

Then figure out where the problem is. Best case it’s a broken meter, worse case it’s a leak.

Write in the group of your student residence because they also probably received this

Best to start by calling the person who sent you this bill. They show you having used 300m3 water on your own in a single person residence. The average water use per year for a single person residence is about 40m3. So 300 is unrealistically high.

Maybe it’s an error and someone entered the wrong number somewhere? Can you verify if the water meter numbers are correct?

Check with your landlord but first with the other tenants,
it could be that your water is not only connected to your place but to the other tenants places as well.

It says there you used 3000 hectoliters water, that is 300 000 liters. There is a mistake somewhere or a gigantic leak. I am having trouble imagining the size of a leak needed to drain 300 000 liters.

That is running the shower at full power for 24 hours per day for 23 days in a row.

Curiously most of it is warm water too, so the leak has to be between the boiler and your apartment. I doubt nobody would notice 300 000 liter leak inside the building

There were issues in Belgium where people switched from the old analog meters to the digital meter. In these cases, there wasn’t a “terugslagklep”(one way valve?) Installed. So the meter also registered a very small usage when the pressure in the water pipes changed and also counted some amount when water flowed briefly in the other direction. That could be checked…
