The more you hear about the health system, the more astonished you would be at incompetence.
And yet posters on this sub would convince you that we should increase taxes so that we can give the health system in Ireland even more money. The whole thing is bonkers.
A lot of the high ups in the department of health need to be turfed out with Donnelly .
I hope the resignation letter of the CEOs was attached with a staple. No? No kidding…
The government needs an all in 1 central app for both doctors, medical aids, admins, payments, and patients can use that contains all the healthcare codes, mostly etc for their patients that medical aids need to plug in or tie their systems into for ease of use.
It invoices, allows doctors to input their codes and medical aids to approve easily, etc. It even emails for payments and allows patients to see their results, what’s paid and entire medical history.
This will get rid of most of the incompetent people and blasting, the money can then be diverted to pay for more doctors and medications.
Like what South Africa has from discovery medical aid.
They made one that everyone now uses.
It makes admin a lot cheaper and will get half of the managerial support staff.
I just don’t understand why one doesn’t exist yet.
It will cost a lot to develop, especially with all the corruption, but will save 100x the costs

At least we haven’t just voted in the guy that gave us the HSE again.
And yet their budget is massive. The incompetence of the civil service is ridiculous. So much wasted money. No politician seems to want to reform it.
Doesn’t seem like much of an issue with the hospitals.
The HSE underfunded them to start with. The options for the hospital are to curtail services to stay within budget or treat people and ask for the funding later.
The sooner we get rid of voluntary hospitals though the better. They’re all acting independently of the HSE but are funded through them.

LOVE how all this is coming out AFTER the election. Why weren’t these papers reporting on this before the election?
All the government employed laughing to the bank while rest of the country crumbles paying for their largesse. This charade ends with mass multinational staff exodus and crash in Euro. No other way
A very serious issue in the HSE is that a lot of the senior staff in non-clinical, decision making roles are simply there because they’ve hung around long enough.
I’ll give you an example. I work as a healthcare professional in the HSE. My clinical manager (who is the manager for our discipline across the county) presented to his superiors (3 network managers that manage areas in the county encompassing all disciplines, and their immediate superior).
The presentation basically said that despite a loss in staff, no recruitment and a dramatic increase in referrals, we have kept wait times from growing over the past 2 years.
Collectively, the network managers and their superior wanted to know about “productivity”. Their definition of productivity? How often are rooms in the primary care centres used.
The man is pulling his hair out. He cannot get through to these people. A lot of them are in their 50s or 60s, no qualifications, and believe that they know best because they’ve been their so long.
For my sanitys sake, I just do my job and go home. The more I know or get involved, the more despair I tend to feel.
