I’ve mentioned this in other posts and will repeat it here. For centuries Christians, Muslims, and Jews have lived side by side in Georgia, as Georgians, among Georgians without the presence of religious discrimination. In Tbilisi, the capital – you can find an Orthodox Church, a Synagogue, and a Mosque where people pray for their faith, and then march together for European values. Hell, even the first Muslim woman to be elected in the parliament lived in the Georgian Democratic Republic, when Georgians as soon as they got a real chance at democracy wrote a constitution which guaranteed equal rights and representation for women and minorities, in 1917.

This is why I want everyone to understand, Georgian claim to the European Union is above all else a cultural claim, and throughout the vast history of this country you can see the struggle of being far away from Europe, but in your heart carrying European values. This is what Russian government despises, and this is why Georgia must win now like never before

This is a beautiful show of humanity in these dark times for Georgia.
