Ordinato 2 SSD 3 settimane fa. Incompetenza pura. Pubblicità falsa.

why the fuck are people still buying things from CEX?
bought a €10 used SSD XD
yes seriously though um cex is shit and has always been shit
That’s also 160GB instead of 120GB.
It s a hdd from 2011 160gb not even 120gb lol
funny story. Happened in Cork.
I was in a taxi with the youngfellow when he was 8 a few years back.
He goes to me “Daddy when are we going to the CEX shop”?
There was silence for the remaining journey.
True story.
Yup, they don’t know anything about tech usually.
Probably means Solid State because it’s seized.
You really shouldn’t buy second hand storage, SDDs have a limited amount of read and write cycles.
Make sure you have a backup as well, 13-year-old HDD is not good for important data.
Check power on hours:

the people who work at cex do not know pc parts beyond attempting to look up the closest thing in their system and calling it a day. they do not test them. do not buy from them
Went to cex to look at a second hand laptop. Said it had a 1TB SSD and 500GB HDD. The OS was on the HDD as we learned in the shop. The charging port had a very loose connection and the underside had bent plastic covering the fans. Lastly, I asked when was it cleaned and they didn’t know the answer. So I knew I’d have to open it up and clean it myself but I was told that was against their warranty. I walked out because there was too much risk at the price they wanted and I wasn’t impressed at all with how they’re trained towards tech.
Manufactured in 2011 – this yoke has about as much chance of holding onto stuff as a hundred years old’s bladder after a feed of pints.
How can we open a investigation into CEX? They are a shady company
Standard enough for CEX. Staff just dont know / dont care.
For consoles if you order say a SCART cable you’ll most likely get a Composite cable with a SCART adapter. Or if you order a Component cable, it’ll most likey be a Composite cable. They never know the differances and just add it to their system as the first description it resembles most on the computer.
Similar with PC parts as you’ve found out. I once ordered a Ryzen 5 2600 and got an Intel i5 2600!
Their customer service is good though, they’ll swap things no bother and they do give a 5 year warranty on everything. They’re decent for some things, especially if you’ve a load crap sitting around to trade in against it.
Just a little incompet and annoying to deal with when they do send wrong / faulty items (they never test PC parts).
Do you happen to live near Dublin? If so DM me
Bought a game and a case online from them once… the case was for a completely different system (not even remotely similar form factor) and when I opened the game it was the last game in the series!
They can be occasionally decent in store, but I’m very wary of buying anything online from them nowadays. Never know what they’re actually giving you.
They take anything. I had a copy of silent hill 2 collectors edition that had been water damaged. It’s cardboard case that was essentially soaked wet then dried. They gave me 80 euro for it. The same happened to my Skyrim collectors edition. They took them both no hassle sorry if you bought it and received either of those copies…
i ordered a gtx 650 from them and i got rx 270 instead im not complaining sometimes when they mess it up they can mess it up in a good way
TBH I don’t think you got ripped off. It was only ten euro, even for 120GB that would be a steal for an SSD. If you haven’t even asked for a refund yet I think this is overreacting to an error on labeling.
Cex hires anyone. And only like Maybe 1 person per store with pc knowledge. I once stopped and employees taking in a 2060 super graphic card before on the word of the customer it worked fine. I gave it the good all sniff test and could smell it was burnt out. (This was time only on market for a few months) told the guy no amd he just walked away with no complaints.
