Have you tried contacting Ride Now? Their cars should be insured against these kind of accidents.
I’d suggest to talk to a lawyer and not accept any compensation for this amount.
*Then came morning some representative from the insurance company came and offered us 500€ each to compensate us for what happened. We didn’t agree and told him we will go to our personal doctor, with his response that it is not necessary cos’ by the look of it we are okay*
Insurance companies wanting to give you money is a red flag , you probably can get more.
Were they arrested?
Glad to hear you are OK. That could be much worse. I have no sympathy for the drunk drivers.
I used to live in Bratislava and about 10 students were killed by a drunk driver falling asleep.
First thing you do when you see a drunk driver is call the police.
have you called RideNow support at +35799132851 already? You can send them photos info on whatsapp on the same number
Lawyer up. Even though trials in Cyprus take to long to finalize, you should take it to court if your doctor believes that you are affected by whiplash. In the long run, you might need the money. Here it might be free, but since you’re not from Cyprus, probably you won’t be here forever. You might get an offer for a job in another country where there’s no “gesy” or you might decide to go back to your home country
I am so sorry for what happened to you.
I have also been a victim of irresponsible driving. You have done everything correctly so far; kudos!
My suggestion is to contact the embassy. The driver’s insurance was nasty and dragged my case. After one call from the embassy, I got the requested sum the following week.
The insurance officer who came to your place is suspicious; he might be an imposter. Make sure to ask for his proof of employment.
I’m so sorry for the accident. I hope you feel better. I had the same type of accident and I had whiplash. I needed a lot of time to recover 🥺 more than a year.
u/AwkwardJoke2157 in which city did it happen in Cyprus?
First, don’t accept the first offer from the insurance company. You should expect and offer around 1000 and 2000 euro. Consult with injury claims legal services, they can give a better strategy in your situation.
You want to be compensated for the incident over and above what the insurance will cover for the damage?
What does you being Asian and them being Russian has anything to do with the incident ? I think if they get a good lawyer and gets whiff of your language, you might be the ones in trouble.
Now if they are drunk, that’s a matter for the police and it has to be established by the police not you.
If you think that being in an incident entitles you to compensation, talk to a lawyer but I suggest you piped down what sounds a very racist attitude. Also do you expect different laws to apply to Cypriots and to foreigners ? Is that how it works in your country ?
Also what do you mean by Asian ? That term is so vague as to be meaningless.
After having a person in my family who went through a similar problem, he was rear ended by a woman in a mercedes at traffic stop while she was distracted and it resulted on a whiplash neck injury and a contusion of the right eyebrow. The womans insurance was willing to pay the car damages on the condition he signed that he received no physical damage. He declined drove the case to court with his lawyer and got more than 10000euros in compensation.
In conclusion, contact a lawyer and a doctor to see what are your options.
Lawyer up asap.If the driver had no valid license, any insurance they may have had in place is invalid. The driver should be looking at jail time for this and a hefty fine

You are eligible for hefty compensation and the driver can even get some jail time.
Lawyer up and make them pay for the trauma, this is not a 500 euros compensation thing, especially not from the insurance side (this is a massive red flag).
They were drunk at the wheel, fallen asleep, and not eligible to drive in this country. They could have killed someone.
Should of just taken the 1k, what trauma what are you on about, you never gotten into an accident? You guys are all good and alive
Contact a layer, 500 is a joke. You can get Much more for what happened.
It could be worse

Glad you are ok
Did you call police?
Dude too much of useless blabla. From the photo in the situation – the person behind must pay. Period.
A few steps you should take.
1. Find a lawyer.
2. Get the medical report from the ER. Find an orthopedic surgeon and or neurosurgeon to check you out and give you a proper medical report for any injuries that might have a long term effect on your health. If you have nothing then that is good, you have your health. If there is something, get compensated properly.
3. Find a psychiatrist to check you out if you feel in any way scarred by the event.
4. Keep all contacts from the witness, the girls names, the pictures of the accident, never lose them. I would suggest you add the witness on social media, even if you lose their number you can find them.
5. Get the police report number of the accident and check with your lawyer if the police got accurate reading for alcohol and or drugs.
There are more things to be done, but start with these.
Yeah, get a lawyer
Lawyer up and get ready to go to court. You’re about to see Cyprus hospitality firsthand.
Out of curiosity: how come are you sure that they were Russian?
Well, you of course can not prove 100% that you have pain or something, but you have got an xray which showed nothing. Greedy Asians want to score again🤣
I got into a worse accident and never had it crossed my mind to milk the other person just because her car rammed into mine and i have got no injuries at all. For all the rest there is insurance.
Remindme! 6 years “when the case makes it to court.”
If they don’t have insurance like if the driver is not insured i can help you i work in the state insurance company.
Sue them and get as much money as you can. They Russians in Limassol so they have money for sure.
Regardless of monetary compensation, this incident should absolutely be filed as an official police report. The ideal outcome is for the driver of the other car to never be able to go near a wheel in Cyprus again. She will probably get enough infraction points to lose her license for quite some time by default due to drunk driving, but given the damage they also caused and your possible injuries, proper prosecution might extend that to permanent as it should. If it’s also true that her license wasn’t valid to begin with, she might even face jail time (again, deservedly so).
All of the countries that you could attract to Cyprus, and you chose Russians. Now we are all going to live with the consequences.
You should seek around 50k€
