Georgia, I’m so sorry our govt doesn’t speak for its constituents, you know how it feels. Be strong! You will win!

Individual countries are unable to counter Russia. We need a eu-wide proper cia-style agency to engage Russian attacks

      **TLDR SUMMARY**

Hungary and Slovakia vetoed a proposal for EU sanctions against Georgian officials in response to the violent crackdown on pro-EU protests. This situation arose after Georgia suspended its EU membership talks until 2028. The sanctions, proposed by EU foreign affairs chief Kaja Kallas, aimed at targeting officials involved in repressing the demonstrations but required unanimous approval from all EU member states. Despite the objections from Hungary and Slovakia, the EU is considering suspending visa liberalisation for holders of Georgian diplomatic passports.

Meanwhile, due to human rights abuses and government corruption, the Baltic states have taken independent action by sanctioning significant Georgian leaders, including Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. The ongoing political crisis in Georgia is rooted in disputed elections and controversial legislation undermining EU values.

We need to get rid of veto system (and establish some other system to ensure that smaller countries won’t be tramped by the bigger economies. I am thinking council that would be composed solely from the representatives of smaller countries like baltics and balkans where the majority of votes would decide if the law is compromising for the smaller nations)

Hey at least I am proposing *some* solution, if it’s bad or good that is for the discussion

Thank God for Romania, that it didn’t become a 3rd Trojan horse in EU

Kick out Hungary already. Slovakia would calm down if they see Orban crying out of EU.

looks like europe won’t do anything until a russian flag flies on brussel skies.

Here is what our russian asset said about the decision: “The European Union has set a world record for political hypocrisy regarding Georgia,”He criticized Brussels for targeting Georgia simply because “a peace-oriented, patriotic, conservative party” won elections instead of liberal forces. Minister Szijjártó highlighted Georgia’s progress under the Georgian Dream party, which has governed for 12 years: average incomes have tripled, per capita GDP has doubled, and foreign investments have grown significantly. “No one in Brussels has the right to question the will of the Georgian people,” he emphasized.

Missing the democratic transition of Russia has to be the biggest failure of contemporan History.

Democratic and peaceful Russia would have made a thriving Europe.

Not a surprise. Both countries are Putin supporters. Both should be expelled from the EU.

Let’s just kick out Hungary, it’s clear that they’re no longer inline with the EU mindset and are undermining our politics by being a puppet state of Russia

    16. How is this a democracy when vetos can be thrown around every vote

    17. As a Hungarian:
My apologies. We are working on removing these rusky-loving rats from power, we have a better chance than ever to do that in 2026.

Slovakia’s foreign policy is a schizophrenia at it’s finest. On one side, Slovakia is glad of Romania and Bulgaria being in the Schengen, but on the other side, vetoes sanctions against Georgia’s pro russian government

We need majority vote like yesterday. It is ridiculous how  Orban and his likes can make the whole Union a laughing stock again and again.

Sorry, we will do our best to vote this cunt out next elections (Slovakia)

The EU is compromised by its inability to reign in members who went off the deep end.

      Make.those.fuckers.leave.
In any way. Hungary and now Slovakia only have 2 goals: destroy the west and enrich the fascist pig that is in charge. Law, rules and democracy do not work just like with Russia, you have to hit them and hit them hard.

    27. fortuneman7585 on

I am so sorry for our government. I hope we will do better in the next elections.

    28. C3P0-R2D2 on

Why would we sanction officials who were democratically elected? Isn’t the EU pro-democracy after all? 🤪
