I would make the second photo pitch black.
If somebody here does not know, in the 90s, people had electricity only for an hour or two.
Imagine the emotional toll on human psyche when you spend your childhood without electricity.
I doubt that you’d ever see such such nice equipment as on right photo anywhere in exUSSR as a kid.
