Seems fair
Seen plenty of children carried by the air corps across to specialist hospitals in the UK, and we were left sorely lacking in finding space for our people with foreign aircraft when Afghanistan fell.

It seems to be the normal price for this model, but buying a jet partially used for evacuation of Irish citizens from conflict zones, with a max capacity of 14 people sounds ridiculous.
Our government are scum bags! Why is no one doing anything about this? We’re being robbed of all our hard earned money just trying to.live a peaceful life

My only complaint is they aren’t buying two. Allows for maintenance of one or use both at the same if a minister needs one and a patient or two patients.
This is great news, but cue the usual whinges from people giving out about politicians using a government jet to get somewhere they need to be. In theory I agree where practical to use commercial, but I have little issue with the state using a jet for its intended purposes.
1. As an aeronautical engineer, I have one major point to make. Aircraft are designed to fly, not to be parked long-term on the ground. This can lead to them becoming un-airworthy. Parts can spontaneously fail from not being operated regularly, so owning it will incur costs regardless of whether it is flying or not.
2. This is a multi-role aircraft, not solely for transporting dignitaries. It will be used for any manner of different activities such as expatriation of citizens abroad, medical transport or for training purposes.
3. As a state, we fund an Air Corps anyways (albeit poorly). Those flight crew, ground crew and support staff are already being paid. No sense in having a bare-bones Air Corps with minimum staffing levels and no real purpose or active missions. They need to gain valuable experience and to be paid well enough to retain that experience.
4. I am totally of the opinion that we need to fund the Air Corps much further and source a larger fleet of aircraft to support our territorial needs. We need to seriously consider fast jets, multi-role transport aircraft and increase the amount of maritime reconnaissance aircraft due to our large airspace and territorial waters. We don’t need to be a part of NATO and this shouldn’t affect our neutrality.
