>That’s more than double the previous year (+105%) and over treble the 2015 figure (+215%).
>To put that in context, only 1,770 new and second-hand motorcycles were registered in Dublin last year. So, for every hundred motorbikes registered in the capital in 2023, 44 were stolen in the city.

Absolute scourge on the city, lads brazenly robbing peoples property. Crimes shared on tik tok for their insecurity clout.
This is how London police tackled the problem. (not sure if it worked fully, but needs to be tackled asap)
Absolute joke of a system with no deterrent to stop them.

Saw this the other week at Stephen’s Green, 2 little scumbags doing wheelies through the junction when the pedestrian light was green. Straight through a group of school girls at 40km/h. Then ironically sped off doing more wheelies past the fucking department of justice.
You can’t write this shit.

In fairness, the mad Max villains only did it for survival. These guys do it cos they’re scumbags.

It doesn’t help making them look ‘kool’ in the poster for the article. They get off on that kind of thing, as the author talks about in the article.
Anyway, let the gardai put a few of them in wheelchairs for the rest of their life. They can be a rolling advertisement to the rest of the scum of what’s going to happen if they’re joyriding on the streets or if they’re on a stolen motorcycle in public.

The Gardaí won’t tackle them because they are afraid of getting charged with a crime if one of those kids comes flying off the bike during a chase and ends up in Beaumont with brain damage. I don’t blame them to be honest.
The government needs to legislate specifically to tackle this problem first imo, police in London had some success with a method they tried.

Is it any wonder?
Can anyone explain how Brenda Taylor the mother of one of three career burglars who died in a head-on crash driving the wrong way down the N7 to escape gardaí has sued the Garda Commissioner?
She’s also sued the Justice Minister, the Minister for Public Expenditure, the estate of her son’s gangster colleague Carl Freeman (who drove the car) and the woman who owned the feckin’ stolen car, amongst others.
How is this even a thing?
And why is the Garda who chased them being investigated, faced with losing his job and perhaps other charges?
