Norway, do you want us to cut your Eurovision point next year?

“So when EU power prices jump,as they have done recently, this price shock spills over to Norway.” … yes, one market. I assume good for Norwegian producers, not for consumers?

The title says “Norway” but it’s really “the two ruling parties in Norway” (Labor Party and Centre Party) and
      – they almost certainly are not getting reelected in September 2025
      – the leader of the Labor Party who’s also the prime minister has not committed to not renewing the Denmark cables, but the party seems to want to

However, it’s also true that the biggest opposition party, which also recently became the biggest party in Norway (the progress Party, which is the furthest right party with representatives in Parliament) wants to cut those cables as well. But the other main opposition party (Conservative party) does not want to cut them.

There are fixed-price contracts for consumers in Norway for 12..24 months. Why don’t people use them? They would not care for this price spikes. In Germany most people use such contracts and in Norway these contracts are much cheaper.

      >critics argue Norway should only send electricity from its abundant hydropower abroad after it has ensured low prices at home

“We want to be part of the common market, but only the benefits, okay?”

    6. Norway should stop export of oil and gas. It would leave dirt cheap fuels for the Norwegian consumer.

If only stronges and biggest economy in Europe didnt shut down all their nuclear power plants, we would literlly be in better place right now.

Im downvoted, but im not wrong, and you know it…smh

    8. Norway is in Europe. Are they cutting energy links with themselves?

Norwegian Labour Party is doing awful on the polls. They are going desperate and throwing all kinds of populist shit on the wall to se what sticks. This one got traction. Hallelujah. Also, this very classic Norwegian isolationism.

    10. This comment section is literally Germans and Norwegians/Swedes brigading their respective victimhood 😂

When Europa should work together it’s sad to see this, put pressure on Germany to open their shutdown nuclear energy, but don’t cut energy link they are so important, how do norway expect to get help if they are invaded with no power grid working

    12. After seeing what Norwegians pay for energy in Tromsø, for it to then suddenly overnight change by like 300% randomly (depending on demand) & the whole reasoning behind it, I can totally understand.

Most people aren’t really that well off, even for being as rich as the country is. It’s still expensive to live there.

If Norway would invest in pumped hydro storage and north south interconnecters it would really be in a great place.

This is something the common Norwegian wants to see. Can’t wait! And no to EU!
