What we learn from the report:

**Concerns Over Freedoms**: The report highlights the negative impact of recent legal changes on civil society and fundamental freedoms, and steps to diminish institutional independence.

**Election-Day Issues**: Compromises in vote secrecy, procedural inconsistencies, and reports of intimidation and pressure undermined public trust.

**Media and Campaign Finance**: Polarized media and limited financial oversight contributed to an uneven playing field, although candidates largely campaigned freely.

**Post-Election**: Protests against the election results were violently dispersed, leading to arrests and concerns about violations of international commitments to freedom of assembly.

**Legal Remedies**: Complaints before and after the election were often dismissed on technical grounds, limiting access to justice.

How PM ‘translates’ this to the public:

      >Overall, the OSCE/ODIHR conclusion indicates that the elections were free and competitive; this is evident from the general content of the OSCE/ODIHR report. I would like to once again thank the OSCE/ODIHR.
