The funeral director who handled my mother in law’s funeral a couple of years ago charged us €200 for “death notices”. The only place I can recall it appearing was on RIP.ie. We just assumed RIP.ie charged for the service. It appears at least some funeral directors are taking advantage of that assumption. They prey on vulnerable people at a time they are most distracted.

The local radio stations charge for the death notices so the funeral directors were probably just rolling it all into one charge.

Everyone charges. My grandfathers death notice on local radio cost €75 to be read out at on KCLR in 2016. I’m sure other local radio stations charge also.

The local papers also used to charge for death notices back in the day.
